Microcosm Dailies: Day 3
By Erik | June 5, 2008
Today is our last day of production. Like most film craziness, it’s fun to think about how we shot the last two scenes the first day of shooting and now we go on to the opening scene on the last day of shooting. All my actors, both principle and background, are at a wrap save two and they’ve been nothing shy of amazing. For those of you that got a chance to watch us filming in public the last couple of days, you have seen just how many times we have to do every scene. Sure, it’s a short drop if there’s a big screw up compared to a stage performance where there’s no safety net, but in order to get a product worth a damn you really need an opening night performance thirty to forty times consecutively.
Our crew has also been nothing short of perfectionist. Kerry Sandler has been the best script supervisor I’ve ever worked with, and that’s saying a lot because I’ve worked with some good ones. But much like the rest of the crew, she doesn’t take a single shot off and keeps us with a film that will make sense! Lee continues to innovate on the camera, it’s so nice having a cinematographer that pours their own aesthetics into a pieces. We’ve got a lot of great shots simply because Lee thought outside the box of my shot list while we were on set. Stephanie continues to demand perfection on the sound which is keep our production sounds insanely smooth. Watching the dailies you’d swear most of this audio was touched up or mixed properly. It’s not folks, it’s raw and straight from the site and we have Steph and Brett to thank for that.
I could go on, but I’ll save a big “here’s our cast and crew” type thing for a later entry. For now, enjoy Dailies from Day 3 of Microcosm!
