The Director’s Statement: A Microcosm Companion
By Erik | November 17, 2008
Hey Nun and Nun Stoppers,
Over at my personal blog, El Video de Melodica, I’ve been putting up what I’m calling The Director’s Statement Series. It’s a chance to get really deep into the artistic process behind Microcosm. While the Microcosm DVD is the only place to find the director’s commentary, this is a companion of sorts; more insights, more in depth and more varied. While it’ll be fun for anyone to read, those of you that have seen Microcosm will have a lot more fun with it as I talk about a lot of the film very much in depth.
Anyway, here are the links! Enjoy!
Part 1 - Take Me Down With You. What made the screenplay pop.
Part 2 - The Cruel, Uneventful State of Apathy. The Wisconsin nature of the film.
Part 3 - I Feel the Need to Get Underneath Your Skin. The primary thesis discussed.
Part 4 - A Sucker For a Saint. Where did all those character names come from?
Part 5 - Under the Stories. The anatomy of a scene.
And if you haven’t had a chance to purchase Microcosm on DVD yet, head on over to our Store Front.
